Mica Slicer
A fast, native 3D-printing slicer written in Rust, for the Prusa CORE One and XL (PrusaSlicer-compatible output) and the Snapmaker U1 (Orca-compatible).
What it does today
Mica is young and focused on three printers. Here is what already works in the beta.
Fast
Layers are sliced in parallel and streamed to the output. A large multi-object U1 plate slices in about 6 seconds.
Checked before export
G-code is validated before it is written, so problems show up in the app, not on the printer.
Tree and normal supports
Normal, tree and organic supports, with enforcers, blockers and support painting.
Multi-material
A tool per object or part, color painting, prime and wipe towers, and a cut tool with connectors.
Printer upload and camera
Send prints to your printer over PrusaLink or Moonraker and watch the camera from the app.
In-app updates
New beta builds arrive through a signed in-app updater.
Reads your projects
Opens PrusaSlicer and OrcaSlicer 3MF projects, including plates, modifiers and their settings.

Download
Mica Slicer is in beta. For now, builds go to testers by invitation only.
Public downloads will appear here once the beta opens up.

FAQ
Things you might run into when you first use Mica.
macOS asks whether Mica may accept incoming network connections
Allow it. Live printer cameras that use WebRTC (such as the Snapmaker U1's) send their video to Mica over your local network, and macOS's firewall asks once before letting it in. If you denied it, Mica shows snapshots instead; you can change it in System Settings › Network › Firewall › Options.
macOS asks whether Mica may find devices on your local network
Allow it, so Mica can find your printers and talk to them (PrusaLink, Moonraker). You can change it later in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.
Does Mica run on Intel Macs?
No. Mica is built for Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and newer) running macOS 12 or later.
How do updates work?
Mica checks for a new version once a day (you can turn that off in Preferences) and under Mica › Check for Updates…. Every update is signed, and Mica refuses one that doesn't match.
